VNL was completely defeated by Dominica

South Korea, led by head coach Fernando Morales (Puerto Rico), was completely defeated by the Dominican Republic with a set score of 0-3 (13-25, 19-25, 20-25) in the first game of the 2024 International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Volleyball Nations League (VNL) at Maracaragne Gymnasium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on the 19th (Korea time).

Korea, which lost to Dominica after China and Brazil, experienced the humiliation of losing 30 consecutive games in the VNL. Starting with three consecutive losses in the final three games in 2021, Korea lost all 12 games in 2022 and last year, respectively. As Korea has lost three consecutive games in this year's event, the number could increase further.

Korea's Jung Ji-yoon (Hyundai Engineering & Construction) and Kang So-hwi (Korea Expressway Corporation) struggled hard with 12 points and 9 points, respectively, but fell far behind Dominica in overall score. The team fell behind 32-44 in attack scores and 3-8 in serve scores, failing to turn the tide.
